Customized column views

Based on user feedback, customized column lists for list views are finally here! You can now define which fields users will see on the list view page for each of the following objects: Application Components, Assets, Blade Devices, Buildings, Certificates, Cluster Devices, Customers, DNS Records, DNS Zones, Departments, Devices, Device Hardware Models, Other Devices, End Users, IP Addresses, IP Nat/Maps, MAC Addresses, Operating Systems, PDUs, Purchases, QR/Barcodes, Racks, Rooms, Services, Service Instances, Service Ports, Service Schedules, Software Components, Software In Use, Software Licensing Models, Subnets, Switch Ports, Telco Circuits, Transfers, Unknown Devices, VLANs, VRF Groups, Vendors, and Virtual Devices.

For example, if you navigate to the Physical Devices list page, you will see a new dropdown (highlighted in red above). The System Column List entry will always be present. This is the default selection of columns that you’ve always seen. The other two selections were defined by a superuser. For example, if I select “Name plus custom fields”, the view will change…

In this example, the superuser has defined a view with the Name field plus 4 custom fields.

You can define custom lists either by selecting the “Add custom list” option from the Column List dropdown or by navigating to Tools>>Custom Lists.

Switch port association with physical devices for stacked devices

Switches that are stack enabled are now discovered as cluster devices in Device42 and the physical device(s) in the stack are associated with that cluster. All the ports will be shown as belonging to the cluster device. This release also includes smart matching of the port name and the switch name index to associate the port with the physical device as the second network device.

Switchport association with FEX modules for Nexus switches

Similar to the change above, we will use the FEX module number and the port name to match which ports belong to which FEX modules (as assets).

Asset to Device relation

In earlier version, only the software and FEX module asset types could have an associated device. Now, all asset types can have an associated device. In the asset type form, if the Asset Device Relation box is checked, you will see a way to associate the asset with a device. On the device, you will see a new tab called “Assets” on the view page – where it will list all associated assets for that device.

Improved snmp collector

We have added context ID and the ability to collect VLAN indexing data to the collector for better troubleshooting and support.

Auto-discovery support for Dell Equallogic arrays

We can now discover basic inventory and IP/mac address info for Dell Equallogic arrays (Under other SNMP devices).

Auto-discovery support for Anywhere USB devices

Anywhere USB devices are now supported in auto-disovery as well (Under other SNMP devices)

Security fix for OpenSSH client bugs CVE-2016-0777 and CVE-2016-0778

We have added the workaround fix to the config file for OpenSSH client bugs CVE-2016-0777 and CVE-2016-0778.

API Changes

  • tags and tags_remove added to assets POST and PUT call
  • service_level added to subnet GET call as filter
  • service_level_id and service_level added to subnet POST / PUT call

Bug Fixes

  • Semicolon as delimiter didn’t work in CSV exports. Now fixed.
  • Not able to print QR codes with text in 64 bit appliance. Now fixed.
  • Login to both appliance manager and main app in Internet Explorer was not working. Now fixed.
